A small business owner has always got time to blog. So says Rich Brooks on Flyte. Most small business owners would disagree, Brooks said. “What small business owner isn't over-worked, whether it's with marketing, sales, bookkeeping, managing people, making the coffee, buying the computers, sending out proposals, answering the phones, taking out the garbage...?” said Brooks. He believes that small business owners can always make a case to blog.
Here are some examples:
- Blogging is not a self-indulgent activity, Brooks said. “It's investing in the future of your business.” Blogging helps search engines find your site, helps the company's credibility, creates leads, and is a great marketing tool.
- Blogging can be done any time. While you may have to take a meeting at a scheduled time, Brooks said, you can sit down and write day or night. Brooks offers a few ways to get this done: Write before the kids get up. Give up TV or reading one night a week to blog. Do a post while eating lunch at your desk. Use a recorder or voice-to-text software to talk your post while exercising.
Brooks wants you to think of blogging as a business tool and treat it with professionalism and passion, as you would any other business tool.
