5 Useful iPhone Apps for Small Business

There are a bazillion iPhone apps to help you balance your checkbook or run your corporation, but are there any for small business owners and where do I find them? Nathan Tirrell at Small Business CEO suggested his favorite five recently. They are, in no particular order:

  • Quickoffice Mobile Office Suite. Tirrell said this app approaches “the functionality of a personal computer.” It has Word, Excel, PDF viewers and image viewing. It has an easy way to get to files saved to the phone and the basic programs every desktop has.

  • Personal Assistant. This app tracks financial, travel and email accounts and makes it available on one app. Tirrell said this is for anyone who needs to track all these things and would like to do it in one window.

  • Pocket Informant. A suped-up calendar. “It includes the perfect calendar feature,” Tirrell wrote, “a versatile to-do tab which links to the calendar, four different types of reminder systems, and so much more.”

  • AT&T Virtual Receptionist. Tirrell said this app seems tailor-made for small business. “This small app allows users to set-up a toll-free number that goes directly to their iPhone or other number of their choosing,” he wrote. The app can forward without being open and will block the outcalling number.

  • Evernote. This app is for note taking, but three distinct ways – text, picture, or audio. “It’s best features include: saving the GPS location of any note taken and desktop-internet access to the notes,” Tirrell said.
